Celebrity chef Adrian Richardson Outed Underpaying Staff

The news comes as George Calombaris recently reimbursed a total of $2.6 million in wages to nearly 200 staff at his renowned restaurants, blaming “poor internal processes in classifying employees”.
Richardson stars in Channel Ten’s show Good Chef Bad Chef and owns restaurant La Luna Bistro, where one employee was denied basic entitlements, according to Fairfax.
The employee was repaid $10,000 on the condition a non-disclosure contract was signed, to prevent negative publicity.

Another employee who worked as a kitchen hand at the age of 18, discovered they were being underpaid when Fair Work confirmed their rate of pay as $21 an hour, rather than the flat-rate $14 an hour that was paid for more than six months. The employee has since been reimbursed $3,165 for the underpayments.
A representative from the Fair Work Ombudsman confirmed several enquiries had been received from employees at La Luna Bistro and that they are being assisted.

A former waitress claimed she did not receive weekend penalty rates due to a “workplace agreement” that exempted Mr Richardson from paying penalty rates. She is owed more than $7,900 in wages and was offered a reimbursement of $3,589.
